Structure

The connections between the Generations, Branches A-B-C, and the sub-Branches, are given here. The oldest generations are at the bottom. The years mentioned with the generations state the year of birth of the first Kolff from that generation. To understand how the genealogy is represented at this site please go to Road Map now. To come back here: from any page click on Structure at the top of the page. At the top of each Genealogy page a small overview is shown to indicate where you are (click on it and it pops up).

Of the Kolff Family Members almost one third reside outside The Netherlands for several generations; check Genealogy: Abroad to see which of the branches of the below structure are abroad.

The Generations are numbered from the First Known Kolff: Henric Colve (born approx. 1347 – first mentioned 1367). Before his name you will see the Roman I, indicating that he is of the First Generation. His son Peter Henricsz Colve has a II before his name, because he is of the 2nd Generation. This way the Generations are numbered. With each insertion in the Genealogy the Generation is given. From Generation X the Genealogy is divided over Branches A-B-C.
Later Branches A and C have subdivisions in sub-Branches (check the note on CBBA-CBBB).
Note: About sub-Branch CBB: CBBA and CBBB are subdivisions that only appear in this schedule and in in ‘Genealogy: Overview’. CBB is one branch that has become so extensive that it was necessary to make a subdivision. In NP94 (Nederland’s Patriciaat 1994) and in the Genealogy Extensive this branch has not been subdivided (we follow NP94 here), but in ‘Genealogy Overview’ the subdivision has been executed as has been done in in this ‘Structure’.
