amazingly written
a document that astonished me: i thought i knew most of it by now,
i have read so much about it, seen so many documentaries about it:
but here i experienced it - truly for the first time
the holocaust, the transports, the camps

later i read: grijze zielen (les âmes grises)
and here one experiences world war i - not far away from where the story takes place, at a distance but always there, always there

after that i read: zonder mij (j'abandonne)...: heavy material, and more

a great author, philippe claudel, who manages to get deep into my soul
